One cannot walk to Canada from Michigan, although both share the border. The only connections between Canada and Michigan are:

  • The international Bridge between Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan in the Upper Peninsula and Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada.
  • The Blue Water Bridge between Port Huron, (LP) Michigan and Port Edward, Ontario, Canada.
  • The Ambassador Bridge between Detroit, (LP) Michigan and Windsor, Ontario, Canada.

None of which allow pedestrian traffic.

It is briefly possible at certain times of the winter to walk to Canada from Sugar Island, technically part of the Upper Peninsula, from N. Shore Dr. to Greene Skye Ave. on the Green River Indian Reserve (roughly 1000 feet), but only when the channel is frozen over. The channel is not used to access Lake Superior, with all ship access through the Sault Locks.
