Look where the thermostat is attached to the intake manifold
15mm on 3100 v6 and also quad 4
3.1 V6 has 160 HP? Correction: The 3100 SFI lost 5HP in 1995 and sits at 155HP for that year. The 3100 SFI in 1994 originally did have 160HP, you are right about that. So if this 1995 model has a 3100 SFI V6, it's 155HP. If it has the four cylinder (2.2L OHV), it's 120HP.
junk it
Should be in a removable housing at the engine end of the upper radiator hose
click on the related link below and look for figure 11
if the car is a 95 and up, it under the exhaust crossover pipe
Put the "O" ring on the line and lubricate it with a little silicone.
There should be a housing that a radiator hose is hooked to. The housing bolts up to the engine block just under the throttle body(the thing the air intake hose hooks up to). The thermostat is behind the housing. This is true for a 3100 buick engine. But in all cases that I know of it will be close to the end of a radiator hose. Hope this helps.
Drain the water from your 1997 Chevy Monte Carlo cooling system. Remove the water supply hose. Remove the thermostat housing retaining bolts. The thermostat will lift out. Reverse the process to install the new thermostat.
Check the lower intake gasket, or the thermostat...
