Barack Obama is a good leader because he did something nobody else did. he ran for president even though he was black. Lots of people discriminated him and gave him put downs. but he didn't care. he told, and convinceed people should be treaded the same as other people. he ran for president in 2008, but didn't win. then he tried again. He was persistant, and kept trying. and eventually, he became the first black man to be President of the United States

He has an excellent and diverse background, the best education, high intelligence and what seems to be a real desire to help the US people. He has:

• A BS degree from Columbia University in NY in Political Science and International Relations.
• He has a Juris Doctor degree from Harvard Law School where he graduated magna cum laude and held the prestigious position of President of Harvard Law Review.
• He has worked as a State Senator in IL for three terms from 1996 to 2004.
• He worked as a US Senator representing IL from 2005 to 2008, when he was elected President.
• He grew up in an environment that cherished and encouraged education. His mother and father met when they were both students at the University of Hawaii. His mother earned her Ph.D. in Anthropology at the University of Hawaii. His father, initially a goat herder in Kenya, earned a scholarship to the University of Hawaii and then was accepted to attend Harvard where he earned his Ph.D. After his parents divorced and his father returned to Africa and served as the Senior Economist for the Kenyan government, Barack Obama was sent to live with his grandparents for a better education. It was evident to his parents that he was not challenged by the schools in Jakarta where he lived from 1967-1971 with his mother and new Indonesian step-father, Lolo Soetoro.
• He has worked as an attorney in Chicago.
• He taught Constitutional law at the University of Chicago from 1992 - 2004.
• He understands what the middle class struggles with everyday from his own personal experience. He never had a silver spoon in his youth.
• He learned "street smarts" from "street urchins" in Jakarta.
• He has organizational and motivational skills from years of work as the Director of DCP in Chicago, a church-based Community Organization.
