Best Answer

Blizzards are forecasted by low temperatures usually below 20* F. and winds that are 35 miles per hour or more. Also falling or lowing snow in the air that often reduces visibility to 1/4 mile or less for at least 3 hours.

A blizzard is forcasted by the temperature, mainly. If they know it's going to be under 0 degrees and raining hard, it becomes a blizzard. Although, if it is a temperature above 0 it is most likely rain. That is a snow blizzard. A hail blizzard, is measured slightly differently. It, like a snow blizzard, is first predicted as rain but when the rain falls, and a sudden cool breeze under 0 degrees comes, it freezes into hail. The blizzard happens depending o how much hail falls. The more, and the bigger, the stronger the blizzard. I know it's kind of complicated, but hope is helps.

Sort of.

The basic way that meteorology works is that meteorologists look to see what the current conditions are right now and how they're trending, then they look into past records to see what happened the last time the barometer was at 29.78 and falling and the temperature was at 40 degrees Fahrenheit and falling and the winds were from the northeast at 12 miles per hour and and and and and.

If they find five such cases, and four out of the five times there was a blizzard next day, they say there's an 80% chance of a blizzard tomorrow, because 80% (4/5) of the times before the weather had been just like it is now, there was a blizzard, and 20% (1/5) of the times there wasn't.

Blizzards can be predicted by finding the center of a low pressure system by looking at maps. They then identify areas of low pressure, wind flow patterns, temperatures, and the dew point.
