There is a relay for the A/C, as well as a fuse in the fuse panel. Start by checking these to to see if they have power and the fuse is good. There is a single green wire that connects the compressor to the wiring harness, plus there should be a body ground bolted somewhere on the A/C frame. all these need to be connected and in good condition. Depending on the year you may also have wiring connections at the dryer that senses the pressure, if it is too low, it will keep compressor from running to protect it. Additionally, the switch in the dash has two wires (usually) connected to it. FOr wiring diagrams the best bet are the green covered Volvo service manuals. They are still available new from volvo, or used at auction sites online.

How do you know if it's your compressor or condenser that is bad?

A simple system performance test will determine this. If you don't have a manifold gauge set, or don't know how to interpret the pressure readings to diagnose system faults, I'd recommend you have a shop do this.

Why does your truck air conditioner blow hot air?

There are many reasons why an AC system can end up providing insufficient cooling, and a proper diagnosis is required in order to narrow it down. It could be low refrigerant (typically due to a leak in the system), excessive refrigerant, blockage in the system, problems with the compressor or compressor clutch, damaged condenser fins which do not allow sufficient airflow to go through for the heat exchange, a bad high or low pressure switch, etc. I would suggest that you go to a qualified shop and have them run a system performance test in order to diagnose the problem.

What causes the AC on a 2000 Honda Accord not to work?

The most common cause of AC problems is the refrigerant leaking out. If the pressure in the system drops too low it will not work.An AC recharge will tell you if the system is holding pressure and help diagnose problems

How do you diagnose water leak problems in cars?

In order to properly diagnose a water leak issue, it is necessary for the cooling sytem to be pressurized. Your mechanic should have a special tool that he connects to your radiator that will pump the cooling system with air. This increased pressure will force the coolant out of any leak the system may have.

What is reciprocating compressor?

A reciprocating compressor is one in which a piston or diaphragm moves in a reciprocating motion. The compressor used in the AC system of a Saturn is NOT a reciprocating compressor. It is most likely a "rotary vane" compressor.
