If you have breast cancer and you just had your lymph nodes removed, a hospital stay is very important.

How long can lymph nodes stay swollen?

When someone has an infection in the general area of a lymph node (such as in the scalp.. the nodes being in the neck) or when you have a viral infection (like "mono") the lymph nodes don't just swell... the actually grow in size to better filter/fight the infection/virus. Once the infection/virus is gone, the nodes shrink down somewhat, but never shrink to the size they were prior to the infection/virus. You're left with a firm knot... I've got several small firm nodes from when I was a child (60+ years ago)...

Should there be a hospital stay after adult tonsillectomy?

6 yr old child has a firm lump on right side of neck oblong shape about half inch long in lymph node area other side of neck is tender and possible lump too?

Swollen lymph modes in children is very common and can be from many things including an infection or virus and allergies. Lymph nodes on the neck can be from ear aches/infections, sore throats, runny noses, loose teeth ect... Also lymph nodes may stay swollen long after the infection/problem that caused them to enlarge has resolved. Take him/her to the doctor for an avaluation to make sure he/she doesnt need any medication.

Is bed rest the best treatment for enlarged lymph nodes throughout the body fatigue and fever?

well we have lymph nodes all over our body, and I have had experience with the ones near my groin area. And a good remedy is to keep a wrung hot towel on it. you just want to stay as warm as you can, and drink a lot of water to ease the dry mouth. I think you are talking about the one under your chin, and I am Sure it will work both ways with the warm towel. This experience was from Playing sports in high school, and i saw a doctor about my lymph nodes near my groin pelvic area.

Can a sinus infection give you a lymph node in the neck?

Yes, but be sure to watch for changes in the lymph nodes. If they stay for more than 2 weeks after you are over your sinus infection, check with your doctor.

Does tonsillitis can cause swelling of lymph nodes?

Yes, if there is infection in the tonsil. Anytime you have infection in your body, your lymph glands become involved by fighting the infection. Lymph glands are all over your body. They have a circulatory system just like your blood does and are found everywhere. If you have a sinus infection or any other type of infection, the lymphs nodes in your neck, groin, arm pit, etc. can be swollen. However, if they stay swollen for prolonged period of time, there may be a more serious illness/disease present and you need to be assessed by a physician.

What causes swollen lymph nodes to stay swollen for a year I have one in my neck that wont go down and an earache almost daily but doctors cant see an infection. Should I have a biopsy of it?

Why don't white blood cell stay in the blood?

White blood cells have their own lymphatic system which they travel around the body in. They are made in the lymph nodes. - I suppose the reason they don't stay in the blood is because of the pressure. Becuase the white blood cells are mostly within the lymphatic system, an immune response can be coordinated faster. - I believe.

Can lymph nodes be so swollen you can not swallow?

Yes. I'm currently suffering (and believe me, the key word is suffering) from a dry socket, a condition 5% of lower wisdom tooth extraction patients get as a result of the blood clot failing to form or to stay in place (in the socket of the removed tooth.) The pain goes without saying, but as an unexpected bonus, there is associated swelling of the lymph nodes on the left side of my throat which is so severe, I cannot swallow my pain medicine, or even the thick saliva that keeps gathering in my mouth. I can't take nourishment or drink water....I'll be going back to the oral surgeon on Monday to see if there's a treatment that will help me. After all, it doesn't take a genius to realize that without food and drink, you die. At any rate, YES, your lymph nodes can swell enough to prevent swallowing.

Why does lymph drain in two different quadrants?
