A beef tenderloin steak should be broiled 13 to 16 minutes, turning it once, to cook it to medium-rare. And entire tenderloin should be broiled the same amount of time (again, turning it once, and then bake in a 350º oven for about 20 minutes for medium-rare.

Preheat the oven to 350
Take the steaks out of the fridge and let them sit at room temperature for about 20 minutes.
Trim the steaks of any excess fat, leaving about ¼ inch around the edge.
Pat the loin strip steak dry using paper towels.
Massage in any spices your recipe calls for. This is a flavorful steak. Salt and fresh ground pepper should suffice, but add any dry rub you wish. Apply oil to both sides of the steak.
Preheat a cast iron skillet or other pan over a high heat on the stove top. The pan should not have a nonstick surface and should have oven proof handles. Heat the skillet to scalding; hot enough that a drop of water sizzles. Add 1 tbsp. of oil to the skillet. Swish the oil around to coat the bottom of the skillet. Heat the oil until it begins to smoke.
Sear the steak for two to three minutes on one side. Use tongs to flip the steak over. Never use a fork as this promotes the loss of precious juice. Sear the other side for two minutes.
Put the skillet on the middle rack of the oven and close the oven door.
Bake the loin strip steak for six to nine minutes, depending on how well done you like your steak. To avoid drying the steak out, don't cook it beyond medium rare, but it's your steak, so bake it to 125 degrees Fahrenheit for rare, 130 degrees for medium rare, 140 degrees for medium and 150 degrees for medium well-done.
