Should you unlock your front hubs while driving in 2WD?

No, you don't have to. Many 4 wheel drives that were made before gas mileage was an issue had constant unlocking hubs so the front axle drove all the time. The only reason you would want to unlock your hubs would be to improve gas mileage as wear and tear is really not an issue. Some people lock their hubs in all winter long and unlock in the spring.

How long will it take to change a hub on a 1991 Mercury Capri?

It should take around 2-3 hours to change the front hubs but a puller is required to remove them . It actually took me several hours just to remove one axle nut and in the end I hade to take it into the mechanics to have it removed. Good luck

If the front drive shaft on a 76 K5 Blazer turns when 4x4 is not in use does this mean it is an AWD transfer case?

It is probably AWD the previous poster doesn't know what their talking about. I have a 76 blazer with an AWD transfer case this. This year there were 3 different transfer cases that came with these blazers. the NP203(AWD) ,NP205(4WD/part time), &NP208(4WD/part time). You can easily identify These by the Plates located on them. they will have the model# there. For more info on these cases follow this link. http://chevy.off-road.com/chevy/article/articleDetail.jsp?id=200867 if your in H gear and hubs are off position it dont turn 76 cant have awd. manual hubs right so that should be the proublem unless your in 4H and think its in H i did this when i first got mine on a long freeway drive it just turns the front axle if the hubs are off. if your in H with hubs locked it turns front axle dont hurt but may slow you down,i do this going to the snow and stitch from 4h to h while driving,i unlock hubs when i get home lazyness!

Why won't the automatic front hubs on my 98 Chevy Tracker fwd not engage?

Hi, I can only offer a suggestion, has it been a while since you operated your hubs? If it has been a while then maybe they are frozen and need to be taken apart, cleaned, greased and put back together. It's an idea because I have have manual hubs and mine were frozen because they hadn't been used in a long time. I couldn't save one but the other I was able to save. I purchased a new hub on EBay and I'm OK. If you find your hubs are gone then try EBay and see what you can find. If you live in a snow area like me, then you probably want hubs NOW, well there may be no easy way out. One last thing to try is to try and engage them a few times and see what happens. Good luck.
