Archaeologists disagree with the Bible on the origins of Israel. They say that there was a peaceful influx of settlers into the hitherto sparsely populated Canaanite hinterland, beginning some time a little before 1200 BCE, and that these settlers brought customs and artefacts with them from the rich coastal cities of Canaan. Historians agree that Israel came to an end in 722 BCE.
On the biblical narrative, Israel lasted a little under 700 years. On the scientific evidence, Israel lasted a little around 500 years.
The term "Palestine" describing the general area, but not all inclusive of it, is at least part of the area in the State of Israel. Palestine along with the term Israel and Judea has been in existence for several thousand years. When it was first used to a world wide extent, was under the ancient Roman emperor Hadrian. At that time, as an aside, the peoples in that area were Jewish people. Non Jewish people there were, generally speaking, pagans. Some were Hebrew peoples who adopted what was called "Christianity", and for a time, judged to be a Jewish sect. Islam came to the area well after the fall of the Roman Empire.
The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan came into existence on 24 April 1950 when the state of Transjordan united with the Arab section of Palestine.
