How long is it after your first visit to the orthodontist do you get your braces?

I went to the orthodontist today. On the first day I went they did molds and x-rays. At the second visit they will tell you what they need to do to your teeth, such as, orthopedic care or getting braces. Then on your third visit they will give you braces, however this is only if you need braces.

my orthodontist said that when i get my temporary braces they have to stay on for 6 months before i get my predominant ones which i have to have for 18 months to 2 years

Removing teeth before or after putting braces?
Yes you can, you would have to arrange a visit with your orthodontist prior to seeing the dentist to remove the archwire, then after having the extractions done, you will need to go back to your orthodontist to get the archwire placed back in. Ring the orthodontist and talk to the receptionist about when your dentist appointment is and I'm sure they will make avail time for you. It doesn't take very long to replace an archwire. If you have to wear headgear, elastics, or other devices, do it without fail. Sometimes you have to have teeth extracted before you can even have the braces put on. The extra space created is the room the orthodontist needs to bring your teeth into alignment (or the crowding could be what is causing the misalignment in the first place.)
