I went to the orthodontist today. On the first day I went they did molds and x-rays. At the second visit they will tell you what they need to do to your teeth, such as, orthopedic care or getting braces. Then on your third visit they will give you braces, however this is only if you need braces.

How long do temporary braces stay on for?

How long does it usually take in between the first 3 appointments before you get you braces on?

To be honest, that would be a question that you ask your Orthodontist. Check out this website to find out more about braces: http://www.bracesinfo.com/ And don't worry, I have had braces for 5 years. It doesn't hurt when they are put on OR when taken off. :)

Removing teeth before or after putting braces?

Yes you can, you would have to arrange a visit with your orthodontist prior to seeing the dentist to remove the archwire, then after having the extractions done, you will need to go back to your orthodontist to get the archwire placed back in. Ring the orthodontist and talk to the receptionist about when your dentist appointment is and I'm sure they will make avail time for you. It doesn't take very long to replace an archwire. Hope this helps

How long does it take until braces are put on?

Probably two sittings of around half an hour each is required before braces can be put. First cleaning of the teeth (Oral Prophylaxix) is done whereas in the second visit molar bands are put. Then after braces are put. There is no hard and fast rule for this; its just up to the patient and the orthodontist. It can be put the same day or even more sittings.

If you have a little overbite and some crooked teeth on bottom how long would you have to wear braces and how much would they cost?

It really depends on the orthodontist and the type of braces they use. You can get free consultations from pretty much any orthodontist. They will tell you about how long you will need to wear them, you can decide together what type you want and they will let you know how much it will cost. And how much your insurance will cover, if they cover any and if you have insurance.

Is it better to get 4 teeth out or have braces for 2 years?

I would go for the braces. Orthodontists are trained to create better alignment for your teeth, having a positive influence on your health for the rest of your life. Two years of braces goes by faster than you can imagine and may not even take that long if you follow your orthodontist's instructions. If you have to wear headgear, elastics, or other devices, do it without fail. Sometimes you have to have teeth extracted before you can even have the braces put on. The extra space created is the room the orthodontist needs to bring your teeth into alignment (or the crowding could be what is causing the misalignment in the first place.)

What should i expect with my new braces How long will they hurt Im only getting them on my 4 front teeth so i don't know if that will affect how much they hurt Please help!!?

Your teeth will hurt every time you get the braces adjusted or tightened at the orthodontist's office, but ask your orthodontist if there are things you can do beforehand (such as taking a mild pain reliever) to alleviate that discomfort. Outside of that, hang in there, and know that the results are worth it.

Is there a way to get braces cheaply if you really need them but your family cannot afford them?

There are some insurance plans that cover part of the cost of braces. I would consult an orthodontist to get an approximate price as every case is different. Most have payment plans where the entire cost is divided over 20-24 months (which is usually how long you wear the braces).

Can you eat goldfish with braces?

as long as the tail is removed first.

How long does it take to get a retainer?

It usually takes about a week if it has to be ORDERED by your orthodontist, but can be 24 hours, if it is MADE by your orthodontist.

What are the steps to putting on braces?

You need to pick an orthodontist and go for a consultation visit. These are usually free and they will go over everything they plan to do, how long the braces will need to be worn and how much it will cost. And any payment plans if necessary. The basic steps for braces are impressions, spacers, and one or more sets of wired brackets. The first visit involves impressions of the teeth, x-rays and putting in the spacers if needed. Spacers are little rubber band like things that go between the back teeth so the metal bands for the braces will fit. Those are worn for about two weeks. On the following visits, the braces are put on. Sometimes depending on the teeth, the top or bottom will be put on and then at another visit, the other set will be put on. Then about every six weeks you go in for an adjustment. They remove the colored bands and the wire and replace it with a different wire. And give new colored bands. The teeth are usually very sore for a few days after each adjustment. The first one is usually the worst. And the brackets can rub on and hurt the gums and tongue. They will give you wax to put over any brackets that cause sore spots. This is very helpful. Most of the detailed questions you might have are better answered by the orthodontist that will be doing the braces.AnswerWhen you go to the orthodontist to get your braces put on, they will first take your spacers out, which are rubber pieces wedged between your teeth so the metal bands will fit. Then, the orthodontist puts a plastic lip separator in your mouth, which keeps your lips from going on your teeth. Carefully, the orthodontist glues the brackets on each tooth, then dries the glue with a plasma light. Try not to taste the glue, because it will taste terrible. Then the archwire is threaded through each bracket, and tightened so it fits snugly. After this, you are done. the orthodontist will put 0-rings on your brackets which are available in a variety of colors. Your mouth will probably be a bit sore after, so don't eat for a while. The pain will go away in about 2 days. AnswerFirst they make a mold of your teeth, then they put in rubber "O" rings or spacers to make space in between teeth. At a later visit, they will take spacers out, and add the actual braces. They sand down a spot on each tooth and glue the braces on. Then they put the brackets on, and slip wires around your molars. Finally, rubber bands connect the front teeth to the back. None of this is painful, but it can be uncomfortable as the teeth are under tension.

How long does it take for braces to correct an underbite?

It really depends on how bad your deep bite is. Obviously, the deeper it is (the bigger overbite you have), the longer it'll take to fix. You'd need to contact an orthodontist to know for sure, but usually you'd need braces for about 1 to 3 years.
