I just boil them until a small knife or fork easily pierces the skin and can easily be pulled out. It depends on how big your potatoes are. If they're big, try checking after 15 minutes and maybe every 5 after that. If they're small check after 10 minutes. Good luck!

Boiling potatoes takes approximately 20mins to roast them it takes approximately 45 mins-1 hour at 180o in hot fat in the oven (make sure the potatoes are coated in the hot fat this will make them go chrispy). To boil, about 15-20 minutes. To bake, similar, maybe a bit longer. To microwave, 3-6 minutes depending on the size of the potato.

If you are making your own roast potatoes, I would recommend boiling them in a pan for about 15 minutes to ensure they are soft. Then put them in a cooking dish with a drizzle of olive oil and sprinkle with herbs or pepper or both! So to answer your question, leave them in the oven for about 40 minutes on 200 degree heat temperature.

If you are cooking them from a packet, read the instructions!

To cook a baked potato in a conventional oven use one of three cooking time and temperature combinations; cook for 45 minutes at 400 degrees F, cook for 60 minutes at 350 degrees F, or cook for 90 minutes at 325 degrees F. The texture of the potato will vary depending on the combination you choose.

It depends on what you do before you bake it if you cover it in oil and poke holes in it, it cooks for about 20-30 minutes. If you don't do any of that then it will cook about 35-40 minutes.
