For the Vietnam War the US Marine Corps artillery would be additional to the following; each US Army brigade had at least one battalion (Bn) of arty. Each USA division had roughly 3 brigades (Bde). In country were:
1. 1st Air Cav
2. 11th ACR
3. 1st ID (Big Red One)
4. 4th ID (Ivy Div)
5. 5th ID (Red Diamond/1st Bde only)
6. 9th ID (Old Reliables)
7. Americal Div (Oregon Task Force Division)
8. 199th Light Inf Bde
9. 173rd Abn Div
10. 196th Light Bde
11. 82nd Abn Div (one Bde only)
12. 101st Abn Div (Ambl Div)
So at least 26 Battalions of USA field artillery consisting of 105mm, 155mm, 8", and 175mm guns. Not counted (besides the USMC) were the M42 Duster units (40mm Air Defense Artillery) belonging to Corps and Field Force Artillery (Forces I & II) which may or may not be the arty included in the 12 divisions noted above. NOTE: WWII thru Vietnam USA batteries consisted of 6 field pieces per battery. Post Viet War is most likely metric configurations, same with USA/USMC tank platoons, which used to be 5 tanks per platoon...that most likely went to the metric system too.
