Catherine of Aragon (b. 16 Dec 1485) was the first of King Henry VIII's six wives. She was originally married to his brother, Arthur, however Catherine insisted the marriage was never consummated and that she came to Henry as a virgin. They were married on 11th June 1509. In total, Henry and Catherine had six children, although only Mary survived.

The children are as follows, in order of birth:

  1. 31 January 1510 - Catherine gave birth to an un-named stillborn daughter.
  2. 1 January 1511 - Catherine gave birth to a son, who was named Henry and given the title Prince of Wales. He died 52 days after his birth.
  3. November 1513 - Another Henry was born and styled Duke of Cornwall at birth, however he died a few hours after birth.
  4. 8 January 1515 - A stillborn, un-named son was born.
  5. 18 Febuary 1516 - The only child to survive infancy was born, Mary, who later became Queen Mary I of England.
  6. 10 November 1518 - Catherine's final pregnancy produced another un-named, stillborn daughter.
  7. Catherine of Aragon also reportedly had 3 miscarriages over the course of her marriage (dates unknown)

Henry's marriage to Catherine was annulled on 23rd May 1533, which was actually five months after his marriage to Anne Boleyn on 25 January 1533.
