It's on top of the engine. It's a big gray flat thing about the size of a loaf of Wonder bread (but much flatter) that leaks out from it's gasket after a few years. This is assuming you have the good (and common) 2.2L pushrod engine. If you have a Quad4 (designed for racing) engine, you have a cam cover which you don't need to worry about until the head needs to be replaced.

The Water pump on both the 2.3 Quad OHC and 2.3 Quad4 engines is located on the back side of the block under the exhaust manifold. The small gear on it faces toward the passenger side wheel and goes into the splined opening on the back of timing cover housing. To replace it one would remove the exhaust manifold heat sheild, then the exhaust manifold. Once here there are 3 studs with nuts that bolt the water pump to the timing cover and I believe 2 bolts that go onto a coolant line that goes underneath the pump along the back side of the block.
