∙ 14y agoThere are 12 states in the southern US. They are Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, Mississippi, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Louisiana, West Virginia, Florida, and sometimes Texas.
Historically, these states fight together (the Civil War), vote together, and have the same ideologies. The state of Florida, while in the geographic region, is closer to the Northern philosophy than the others, and Texas can also be considered "western".
