The term of the parliament is 5 years, and therefore the prime minister's term cannot exceed 5 years. The PM may call for early elections before the 5 year term is over. The PM may also resign and a new PM may be elected by the party having majority in the parliament without having to call for elections but only if it is within the 5 year term of the parliament. There is no limit on how many terms a PM can serve.
