I'm pretty sure you need 5-7 years to be a psychologist.

____________

To be a fully certified psychologist, you should expect to complete:

1) Four years undergraduate university/college training

2) Two years masters degree

3) Three to five years PhD

4) Successfull passing of certification exams

Sometimes people can get psychologist positions with only a masters degree, but it is becoming uncommon.

It would depend on the specific discipline. Typically, a masters will take approximately two to three years to complete. However, a field of study as a school psychologist could take between three and four years to complete.

Depends what you want to do. If you want to work for others, expect to have a masters, if you want to work your own practice, expect to have a PhD. Thus you need a bachelors (5 years for honours, 4 without, honours suggested to get into grad school). 2 years for a masters, 3 more for a PhD. I don't know the situation where you're from but in Canada, most psychology programs are not terminal masters programs. Most often you enter a PhD program and receive your masters along the way. In some cases, graduating with only a masters is the equivalent of being given the friendly boot from your respective program. Also, don't expect to complete a PhD in the allotted time most take longer.
