You can get a MacBook (laptop/notebook Mac) for as little as $US1000. You can get an iMac (desktop Mac) for as little as $US1200. Remember that, as with all hardware, you get what you pay for. More cost is always better computer. However the cheapest Macs have ample hardware specs to do most non-gaming activities.

Apple produces a range of computers known as Macs. Within each variety of Mac there are various options (faster processor, larger disc etc.) that affect the price. So there is no meaningful average price. The Mac ranges across (in US$ for basic models) the Mac Mini 599, the MacBook 999, the iMac 1199, the Mac Pro 2499.

You can get a decent mac for about $1000 to about $2400 and a really nice one from around $2500 to $5000. go to apple.com you will see everything

In Canada, the new MacBook Air costs $999.00 for the basic model. A 13 inch MacBook Air with 256GB costs $1299.00. The 11 inch 256GB costs $1199.00.
