I can't answer the actual cost question, but replacing a rod is a big deal. In many applications the engine would need to be removed from the vehicle. The cylinder head and oil pan would need to be removed, and if the rod has spun the bearing, the crankshaft would need to be removed and repaired or replaced.
Need to know what rod you are asking about, a push rod or a connecting rod makes a big difference.
