Actually it doesn't cost anything. But if you have alot of oney or hi income then than they ight cost you it also depends hoe good it is if its bad or life saving also if you havea bad case then its free but u pay after also they ight keep you in a giant incubater room. STAY AWAY FROM ANIMALS THAT HAVE RABIES

For pets it is $15-$20. There is a pre-exposure vaccine for humans that is recommended for animal control workers, and also for many rescue workers and any other job that brings you into contact with stray animals or wildlife (especially skunks, raccoons, and foxes). It is more expensive than the animal vaccines. Usually it is ordered through a veterinarian and administered by a doctor or nurse. There is also a painful and expensive series of shots for a person who does not have the pre-exposure vaccine and is exposed to rabies. There is no cure for rabies in people OR animals, and without a vaccine or post-exposure course of shots if you do get rabies, you will not know until symptoms occur. Once symptoms present, it is fatal. A few humans have survived but they are usually vegetables. There are two people we know of who have survived with all faculties intact, but don't take the chance. Always make sure your pets are current on all vaccines, but rabies is the most important. RABIES CAN STILL BE TRANSMITTED IN THE BITE OF AN ANIMAL EVEN IF THEY ARE NOT YET SHOWING SYMPTOMS!!!

Different prices in different locations. If you're looking for the least expensive way would be to check in your area for Rabies Clinics--$10 approx.
$15-$20 at most clinics. It is available for private use, but that's a bad idea since a rabies vaccination is not legally valid unless given in a clinic. That means if your dog bites someone it will be handled as an unvaccinated animal; those procedures vary by location.

If someone has insurance... it is still a costly price. If no insurance then... Most initial shots and follow up (Series of shots)... can approximately costs up to $12,000.00 dollars. Why so high in the United States??? because we live in a country that is now of greed. Asia and Africa shots usually are around $40.00-$50.00. If you have no insurance in Argentia and some of the other countries... then you can get free series of shots.

That's $1200. Regardless, Immiticide is no longer available. Production is indefinitely suspended due to lack of raw materials combined with increases in the number of heartworm cases.

Addendum by another user: I just had the initial series of shots and then one of the boosters at the ER in the local hospital in Bloomington, Indiana--the cost for the six immunoglobulin shots plus the rabies shot itself was a little under $17,000. The booster (which has to be given at the ER) was $6,500 (as will be the cost of the other two, a piece, if I choose to go back). Plus 'room fee' in the ER (which is not necessary, really, since it is only a shot), plus I suppose the doctor fees. Basically, for me as it stands now, if the insurance pays for most of it, a month's salary based on the possibility that I was bitten by a bat in the house while I was asleep.

The cost is said to range between $2000 and $7000+ per person. This figure covers both the rabies vaccine and rabies immunoglobulin.

Note that rabies immunoglobulin is only administered after suspected exposure to rabies, not as a preventative measure. Pre-exposure vaccination for humans costs between $625 and $1110 and much less for pets.

Can a cat get and infect to people rabies if they have a rabies shotAsk us anything?

If a cat has a rabies shot after it has already become infected with rabies, the shot will be ineffective and the cat can infect people despite having been vaccinated. If the cat receives its rabies shot while it is healthy, and if the shot is effective (which it is nearly all the time), then the cat cannot catch rabies and cannot infect a human. However, a very small number of rabies shots (about one in 100,000) is not effective. Note that the rabies vaccine can lose effectiveness if it is mishandled. In almost all cases, if the original shot is ineffective, the booster shot corrects it.

Should a dog have a rabies booster shot when bitten by a coyote?

Because the rabies shot is a live virus, no. This could increase the rate of your dog getting sick from rabies. Get your dog tested, then if it has rabies, get it rabies injections.
