I assume you mean the automatic transmission fluid? Peugeot automatic gearboxes are "sealed for life" and *they state* you need only to "top-up" the transmission fluid. However, ask yourself, what do Peugeot define as "life"? It's probably 10 years. In which case, I would much advise to get the transmission fluid changed, it's not too difficult and can be done yourself if you pick up a haynes manual. Unfortunately, as the gearbox is "sealed for life", you can't change the gearbox fluid filters.
The 2002 Ford Galaxy only requires one gearbox.
As both driveshafts will need to be removed, the best advise I can offer is to buy a Haynes manual and follow the comprehensive instructions in that.
Put the car on axle stands remove the lower engine cover, the drain plug for the gearbox is located at n/s/f at the bottom of the gearbox you will need a 8mm square key which you can buy many car parts stores for £3.remove the drain plug to drain the oil and clean the drain plug and put it back on after the oil is drained then remove the air box and remove the gearbox breather cap fill it up slowly and clean any spills on the gearbox as the oil will smell horrrible. the Peugeot 407 will take 2.6l of gearbox oil which you can buy from many car parts stores for around £17 job done. hope this may help
