How much does it cost to fix the thermostat housing for a ford explorer sport 4.0 6 cylinder
follow the top radiator hose to locate the thermostat housing, remove the hose from the housing then unbolt the housing. remove and replace the thermostat and rebolt the housing to the motor, replace the hose The housing is made of cheap metal and should be replaced. It is important to "seat" the thermostat properly. Also, it is much easier to replace and remove the thermostat housing if you first remove the timing belt housing.
front of the engine where the neg cable is grounded next to the cable you will see a dome like housing two bolts the thermostat is in there. be careful when tightening the housing if the thermostat is not seated properly you could brake the housing also if you tighten it to much you could brake the housing.
You can remove the throttle body. It is then so much easier to get to the bolts for the thermostat housing.
$32.49 on ebay, depends on which engine you have and the year.
Wher is the thermostat housing located on the Jetta 2.5 5 cyl and how much rad fluid is needed once i replace he thermostat?
Follow the top radiator hose to where it enters the engine. The thermostat is in that housing. You will need a new gasket. Ask the parts guy how the thermostat is installed. Many thermostat have a "jiggle pin" which most be located correctly.Don't get wrench happy tightening up the thermostat housing fasteners. The proper torque on those fasteners is not much.
i just paid £7 for one for my 2000 primera
my 2000 Lincoln navigator weighs 6700 lbs.
4 to 6 hundred dollars
Thermostat replacementI received a quote for my 2000 Grand Prix 3.6 from the Chevrolet Dealer and it was around $300.00, for drain/fill antifreeze and removal/replacement of thermostat. I did my own for around $25.00, cost of thermostat, gasket and antifreeze. I took some short cuts and works fine just remember you have to bleed the air from the cooling system with the little screw on the top of the thermostat housing. If not the engine will over heat and you will have an air lock in the engine cooling system and it will lock-up.
First you must locate the thermostat housing remove the three bolts and pull out the thermostat there will be a tiny o ring keep this for you will need to install this after you have placed the new thermostat in its proper place you will also need to replace the gasket that gets removed while taking the housing off to insert the new thermostat then you will need to torc the bolts back in place to avoid leakage from the housing you may also use a gasket sealent but not too much because it could drip into the thermostat if this occures it could clog the thermostat in this case you would need to start over in your mission
