A code 32 indicates a EGR system fault. The EGR valve takes some of the exhaust gases from the combustion cycle and returns them into the intake air system. This cuts down on the NOx emissions. A faulty EGR valve shouldn't keep a car from starting. The repair for a code 32 is to replace the EGR valve.
From Allexperts.com "1-Check the vacumn lines for the EGR valve system, for leaks and / or drying and cracking 2-Check the electrical for the EGR valve 3-Check operation of the EGR valve What causes this code is that the computer fails to "recognize" the air/fuel ratio when the EGR is activated" Code 32 Definition 1994-98 Dodge 32**EGR Solenoid circuit Short or open in the EGR solenoid circuit. Check for loose, broken, or shorted wire in the EGR valve wiring and connectors. Possible air fuel ratio imbalance not detected during diagnosis.
the egr valve may be bad call a parts store they should be able to tell you
a code 32 would be either An open or shorted condition detected in the EGR solenoid circuit. or A mechanical problem found in EGR system (vaccum line leak, defective EGR valve, plugged EGR tube, etc.).
Egr valve solenoid circuit.
the code # 32 is telling you that it`s a exhaust gas recirculation error. your electronic vacuum regulator valve controls EGR vacuum. what needed to be done is replace your EGR valve . the cost to replace this part is based on what type your vehicle needs . choices are electronic EGR valve at about $120.00 dollars if your vehicle has fuel injection. or $70.00 dollars if your vehicle has a carburator.
Code 32 means EGR valve not seated (PFE) or EVP voltage out of static limit
26 is a quad driver (pcm) control for the egr valce and other things. 32 is egr valve. If you have 26&32 most likely the egr valve and/or solenoid need replacing. On a double overhead cam engine they are at the back of the engine valve is round with a vacuum line on the top follow the line 5 in to solenoid. On a single overhead cam it is under the breather box same shape but the solenoid is by the throttle body
The oil capacity of the 4.6L 32 valve Northstar in a 1997 Cadillac is 7.5 quarts.
Error code 32 for that car is EGR problem - during normal driving the car periodically runs an internal test of the EGR valve - it triggers the valve and watches for a change of exhaust stream composition, if the change does not happen, then the computer assumes the valve is bad and sets the code. If you get this code then if you are living in an area that does not do emissions testing you can ignore it. If you are living in an area that does do emissions testing then before replacing parts, take the car through emissions testing and see if it is really producing high NoX. If it is, the EGR valve is bad or the passages from the exhaust line that lead to the EGR valve are plugged. But sometimes the car ISN'T producing high NoX and the code gets set anyway. Legally, if your within emissions requirements then there's no reason to do anything about it. Note also that a standard tailpipe sniff at idle will not detect high NoX, only a dyno test will detect it. If your state's emissions testing has abandonded dyno testing, then even if your car has a bad EGR valve and is producing high NoX then it will not show up on an emissions test. Engine computers made after the late 1980's all test for proper EGR functioning so many states simply assume that if a bad EGR code is NOT set in the engine computer, that the car is producing acceptable NoX levels. The Chrysler engine computers of this vintage, in my experience, have a faulty algorithm for detecting a bad EGR valve. I have seen vehicles of this vintage that have a bad EGR valve and that fail emissions testing, that will not set a code. I've also seen vehicles that are producing acceptable NoX and that have a good EGR valve, that set this code intermittently.
