The 4.0 liter SOHC V6 engine has ( 3 ) timing CHAINS , so no timing belt
You should expect the bill to be $250-700, depending on shop and parts you use.
they don't have belts , there are two timing chains , one at the front and one at the rear of engine. no need to replace
200.00 - 400.00 Call around several places
I am almost certain that the timing chain should last throught the life of the Explorer.
Car has a timing chain. So you don't replace it until you hear a chain slap. I have never run into this problem yet. So shouldn't have anything to worry about.
recallI really couldn't tell you but I do know that it was a recall and ford should fix it fir free....They did mine
Same frequency as the timing belt, every 70-80K miles.
If your timing belt has cracks in it both inside and out, replace it!
I have a 1995 Avalon; you should replace the timing belt at 75 thousand miles; good luck !
A 1997 Ford Explorer , 5.0 litre / 302 cubic inch V8 engine has ( 1 ) timing CHAIN
according to Dayco timing belts it is 120.000mi
