recirculate is a function o a pool pump system that draws in water from the pool, through the pump, bypassing the filter and going straight back into the pool. Its usefull for evenly spreading chemicals through the water that you dont want in the filter such as flocculant

If you want to move the water about for some reason or other without putting it through the filter, put it on recirculate.

In a residential pool, 1.5 to 2 times per day is considered adequate under normal conditions. In a commercial pool it depends on the local regulations and requirements.

Do you recirculate or filter after placing chemicals in pool?

Filter it, you need something to catch all the organisms your killing. The filter pump will still recirculate.

What is the difference between filter and recirculate on a pool pump?

First of I think you may be referring to the pool filter not the pump. "Filter" runs the water thru the filter thus filtering the water. Recirculate, I believe, bypasses the filter media and sends the water back to the pool unfiltered. K

What setting should you have your pool on for normal operation?

If you're talking about your pool filter, it should be set to filter or run. Use the bypass or recirculate setting if you wish to circulate the water without having the water pass through the filter. Use the backwash setting to clean the filter.

What is the function of the recirculate position on a multiport valve?

Recirculate allows water to circulate through the system but bypasses the filter. This allows one to keep the pool water flowing, and components like a salt water chlorinator running, even if the filter is broken.

Why is my Pool sand filter pressure to high on filter mode?

when the pressure is high on filter mode it usually means that a backwash is required.

I accidentally vacuumed dirt in my pool using backwash mode instead of waste mode. How do I get the dirt out from under the sand?

There wont be any dirt under the sand. When you vacuum your pool you should do it on filter mode Otherwise you will lose a lot of water for nothing, this would be especially wasteful in the case of a salt water pool. Ofter having vacuumed the pool on filter mode and if the pressure gets too high backwash. after backwash rinse for a minute, then return to filter.

How can one assess if his pool has a clog in the filter line and how does he fix it?

Check the psi on the filter tank? If its lower than usual there is something stuck in the lines or jammed in the pump impeller. If its higher than normal, it just needs to be cleaned. Also, if you put the multiport handle into the recirculate position, this will bypass the filter. If everything works better in recirculate then you have a filter problem

How do use a multi valve pool filter?

Need more specific info A multi valve pool filter is a common configuration of valve and filter for a swimming pool system. The piping into and out of the filter is attached to a multivale. A multivalve has has several positions. One type of multi valve has six positions: backwash, waste, filter, closed, rinse and recirculate. (These valve positions are used on a DE filter. A sand filter may be different.) Use the filter setting in the nromal operation of your pool. This setting receives water from the pump and directs it to the dirty side of the filter media and then receives weater from the clean side and directs it to the pool. Use the Backwash setting to flush the DE from the filter and to a drain. Use the waste setting to flush water directly from the pump to the drain. The closed position is, well, closed. Rinse? Recirculate?

Can you vacuum your pool while on recirculate?

Yes you can BUT all the debris will re-enter the pool as its not being filtered

Do you know what the problem might be if a swimming pool drains when the filter is on?

Backwash valve is leaking by. More than likely it is a bad oring inside the valve. Or it was not place back into recirc mode completely. or you may have a leak on the return side of the filter. That includes all the plumbing from the filter or heater to the pool. The back wash valve may be obvious if the waste line ends close by. The back wash valve should be placed in the "filter" mode not the "recirculation" mode. K

What setting should the sand filter be at when using the the above ground pool cleaner?
