I'd wait for at least a 150 miles ... if you have it checked too soon, there won't be enough stored data for the system to relay to the smog check machine.

You have an 2006 Audi A3 and the engine light is ON steady while driving how do you cure this problem?

The engine light will only be on because there is a problem, take it to your nearest Audi Speacialist Cars where they can plug it into a machine and check what the problem is. it could be a case of just a failed sensor somewhere in the engine but more than likely will be a problem, not something you want to ignore!

What could be wrong if a 1985 Audi 4000s turns over but will not start and the oxygen sensor light was on prior to noise and rough engine running?

I had that problem on the freeway outside of Boise in my '85 4000s. Turned out it was the distributor, which had shattered on the inside. Other than that, I'd check the EFG valve.

Why does the check engine light come on and how do you reset it on 2004 Audi A4 SEdan?

There are a multitude of reasons why the check engine light could come on - you need to have an OBDII scanner hooked up and pull fault codes to determine the cause. As for resetting it, fixing the problem which causes it would be the best way to go.

MY 00 Audi check engine light came on while I was driving I called a Audi mechanic and said it could be car is polluting too much whatever that means. What would it cost to fix and what could it be?

The Audi mechanic is referring to the fact that the "check engine" light is an integral part of the emissions control system. If the engine runs and the check engine light is on, it means that a sensor or other emissions system device is not functioning properly. When the computer detects a 'fault', it turns on the light to inform you that the vehicle needs to be repaired. The NEXT step is to connect the vehicle to a code scanner so you can figure out what's wrong. You can borrow, rent or purchase a code scanner at most auto parts retailers. It's impossible to list all of the possible problems that would cause the light to come on. Fortunately, the computer can tell you.

Why would you get a lot of black smoke from your Audi A4?

Black smoke means the engine consumes too much gas - possible problem with fuel injection. Is your check engine light on? It could also be a problem with oxygen sensors.
