How soon can you take suboxone after you stop taking a 60mg. dose of methadone for 2 years with out going into full withdraws?

My Dr told me 24 hours but it was way too soon. I threw up every 10 min and didn't eat or sleep for 2 days. It will be painful but I would wait 3 or 4 days because methadone has such a long half life. The withdrawals for those few days are nothing compared to take the sub to early!

Suboxone will not but the methadone will show as an opiate. I would give the methadone a good four days to get out but keep taking your suboxone so you dont get sick. i have been on probation taking u.a.'s for about a year and have been on suboxone for the same amount of time. I take a sub the morning of my test and it shows clean everytime. just quit the methadone and you will be fine!
Should you wait before taking Methadone after taking Suboxone?
Going from methadone to Suboxone will make you sick. Going the other way will not make you sick. However, long exposure to the narcotic antagonist in Suboxone will have made you far more sensitive to opiates like methadone. There is a good chance of overdose. The methadone should be phased in slowly, starting with much lower doses than normal. A better idea: get detoxed from the Suboxone if necessary, and get REALLY clean. Why go from one addiction to another? Addicted is still addicted. Don't you want to be free of all that?
How do you go from methadone 160mg to suboxone?
You have to start going through withdraws from methadone. When you feel the withdrawal symptoms you take a suboxone (under tounge) wait 1/2 hour, if you still feel w/d then another sub....on and on until you don't feel the w/d anymore. You need to be talking to your Dr. while you are doing this. Methadone will not cure your heroin addiction. It will only keep you from going through withdrawal if you continue taking it. Once you stop taking the methadone, you will start going into withdrawal. Methadone, as well as Suboxone, are opiate antagonists. They feed your physical dependence on opiates, and they block an opiate high, so even if you relapse and start using heroin again, you won't get high on it. Heroin, Suboxone, methadone, opium, hydrocodone, hydromorphone, oxycodone, codeine, etc...these are all opiate drugs (made from the opium poppy). Methadone (as well as Suboxone) is just an opiate that won't get you high. It helps you quit getting high, but it does not cure or get rid of your physical dependence on opiates. When you are ready to stop taking Suboxone, you wean yourself off of it very slowly, usually over a period of several months. I would assume the same is true of methadone, but I have never taken methadone, so I don't know too much about it.

Basically anything other then opiate pain killers and benzodiazepines. If you try mixing other opiates with Suboxone, then your body will enter immediate painful withdraws.. not to fun! if you also try mixing benzos with Suboxone, then there's a huge chance of you overdosing or going into respiratory depression. DON'T TRY IT!

Absolutely the contrary will take place in that Suboxone will completely displace the opiates out of your system within one day. This stuff is a miracle drug for those serious about beating their demons with opiates as there will be zero withdrawls on day one.

I would highly advise against that. You see, suboxone will say on the bottle that it is buprenorphine with naloxone. The two combined keep you from going into withdrawal, but, keep you from getting high. Taking methadone after that might send you into an immediate and EXTREMELY unpleasant withdrawal. In my opinion don't do it. Save the methadone for another day.Once again, i am not a pharmacist, nor do i have any pharmacological training, so, be careful out there!

suboxone/subutex is the latest prescription drug that can be substituted in place of another narcotic.. sub stops the horrible withdrawal symptoms when going off a narcotic once you're addicted..unfortunately you are simply replacing one narcotic for another narcotic.. although word is getting off suboxone much easier than getting off methadone, so switching to suboxone to get off methadone and then getting off subutex certainly make sense..in the case of getting off other narcotics[percs,Oxycontin,morphine,etc] can't really say that getting off suboxone is any easier than getting off those other narcotics because subutex is just another synthetic narcotic..

no the suboxone blocks the "high" feeling. if you are not going into withdrawal yet do not take suboxone as it will push you into full withdrawal and you will be sick. it should not be started until 12 hours into withdrawal.

Speaking from experience, they will not show up as the same Thing. In fact suboxone won't show up at all unless your test gets sent into a lab and your probation officer or whoever specifically requests a gc/ms for suboxone, which won't happen unless they think you've been doin subs. I take 4 mgs of sub a day and haven't failed yet and my tests getsent into a lab (no gcms). I failed for oxy when I did oxy, but never because of suboxone
