Look at this website: http://www.offroaders.com/info/tech-corner/project-cj7/project-cj7-windshield.htm It gives a pretty good idea how to do it. It was thorough enough to convince me to take the thing to a glass shop. (I would have only saved about $45 doing it myself, and it would have taken me most of an afternoon, given my luck.)
You already have the biggest tank that is stock on a wrangler, but genright has extended fuel tanks that come complete with new skid pans for easy install.

If you are installing new hardware you must first uninstall all of the old Jeep soft top hardware. Remove the windshield retainers, tailgate bar, and the old bow assembly. If you are working with a YJ, you will also have to remove all the belt rails. On both sides of the Jeep, measure from the outer edge of the body to the top lip of the windshield. It should be 75 1/8 inches on both sides of the Jeep.

You can go to any auto parts store. Autozone will remove the old and install the new for you. The best part is you have clean hands when you are done.

If the new door seal has more clips than is necessary to install it on a Jeep Wrangler, the seal can be trimmed with a scissors to fit the door. Another way to remedy this is to return the door strip to the store where purchased and get the smaller, half door seal.
a TJ is the model designation for wranglers made from 1996-2006. the wrangler succeeded the cj in 1987 and from then till 1995 it was the wrangler YJ. the current wrangler is a JK. so 44-86=CJ 87-95=YJ 97-06=TJ 07-now=JK There wasn't a 1996 JEEP WRANGLER. The Civilian Jeep or CJ was put to pasture in 1987. The "new" jeep was born and named Wrangler. The YJ Jeep Wrangler is a smaller, lighter, and has square headlights. Jeepers of the world said "Nay!" on square headlights. Hence, after the last YJ with square headlights was created the YJ was no longer made. The TJ Jeep Wrangler is mostly the same Jeep but it has round headlights. THEY ARE INITIALS FOR WRANGLER MODELS Jeep Wrangler TJ and YJ are the initials for Wrangler models. As per the official information disclosed by Jeep, TJ and YJ don't essentially mean anything, though many of the Jeep fans strongly believe that TJ stands for "tough Jeep", YJ for "yuppie Jeep", CJ for "Civilian Jeep" so on and so forth.
