if you have a first gen (1989 to 1993) 12 valve cummins.turn the fuel screw one turn or more turns to create horspower and torqe and black smoke.
but if you have a gen 2 a (1994-1998) then you have to move your fuel plate up.
yes dirty injectors will cause black smoke. basically the black smoke is unburnt fuel dirty injectors usually mean dirty pump as well,but if ya pump is turned up for performance, this will also cause blck smoke a good dose of injector cleaner thru the system will usually fix, if that's the problem.a little tip, double does it, it will not hurt the system.

The fuel pump on a 2005 Ram with a Cummins is not adjustable. If you want more power or smoke you need to purchase and instal a programmer.
