If it is a tail light or a head light, WEAR GLOVES!, these bulbs are a pain in the ass and very sensitive. My mother used to own a 1988 Chevrolet Celebrity Wagon, whenever we had to change the bulbs we usually bought two because someone was bound to touch it without gloves ruining it (the oil from human skin kills these bulbs).

Tail Light:

Once you have gloves on, the old bulb should twist out like a pill bottle top, it has two prongs at the base of the bulb and the socket has that L-Shape in it, just twist and pull gently. After that, slide the new bulb into the groove and twist it the opposite way you twisted to get the bad bulb out. Before you put the cover on and everything, just try the bulb out by stepping on the brake.

Head Light:

Again, use gloves. This bulb should be much easier to get out. There should be one or two clips holding it in, just squeeze the clips to release the bulb and pull it out. Then just slide the new one in, it should click when it is fully in. Just replace the bulb into the fixture and try it out by flipping the lights on.

If this is an interior bulb then I have no idea.

Good Luck!

To change a tail light on a 1988 Celebrity: Open the trunk. Look on the back of the side light you want to change. There will be several 10 mm nuts. Remove the nut in the center of the tail light lens. It is usually silver. The lens will then pull out a bit, then there is a tab into the backup light, pull the lens out of that.
