How to change coolant temperature sensor volkswagen jetta 2001?

You have to drain a little bit of the coolant, so the manual says. On the 1.8T its on the right side of the engine. To get to it you should remove the two engine covers. Just turn the screws 90 degrees to unlock them; once you see the way they're made you'll understand.
Remove the electrical connector (I'm still figuring out how to do that. Nobody mentions how that clip works). Then slide the clip off that's holding the sensor to the coolant line. Turn the sensor and pull it out.
I read somewhere the black-top sensors go bad easy and need replaced with the green ones. Kinda funny considering the green one is 10 bucks at autozone and the black is special order 35 bucks.
