The front grill assembly assembly must be removed to gain access to many of the front lights including the headlights. If you need to change a headlight it would be wise to change all of the lights that are accessible at the time.
You can replace the headlights without removing the grill. There are rubber covers on the back of the headlight assemblies which must be removed. Use a small screwdriver to pop them off. The drivers side is tight but doable without removing anything. On the passenger side, you need to remove the air filter assembly which only involves a few screws. I did this in under 30 minutes the first time I tried. I would not recommend removing the grill because it is very easy to break one of the clips.

It is possible that a fuse blew if the auto headlight and running light system quit working on a 2005 Chevy Trailblazer. It is also possible that the computer is not responding to the set-up mode for the lights to work properly.
You will need to take the complete headlight assembly loose or out to get to the bulb to change it.
I went to Auto Zone, they will install it after you purchase it.
