The belt pulled to expanded position wouldn't wind back to its closing position. I took it to a clever mechanic and all he did was nothing less than a magic; 1. He folded the back of the seat down, which the belt was attached to. 2. He Threw the seat's back, back to its vertical position with a shear force. That was it..problem solved and the stuck spring started to function properly again. I tried the same trick once again in a citroen xsara and it worked.
