Adults cats usually will not hurt a kitten, unless they are deranged or crazy or something. They may not welcome the kitten, at least at first, but usually they can sense that it's a just a baby, and they won't hurt it.

I have had cats all my life, so I've had a lot of experience bringing a new kitten into a home with adult cats. Sometimes the cat doesn't like the kitten, and hisses at it or swats at it, but after awhile they will get used to the kitten.

It's okay if you don't have a spare room. You don't have to keep them apart. But don't force them to interact; let them develop a relationship on their own time.

:Continuation of the Question from perfectmew:

I just got a 5 1/2 week old kitten. I already had an old female calico and two sibling males, of which happen to be the kitten's older halfbrothers. They are all three neutered/spayed. The calico accepted her right away, as she is very old and has been through the process many times before with many other cats. The males, however, were the newest arrivals in the cats and this is their first time to be introduced to a new cat. They are still both quite young, no more than a year. They have both shown some aggression and hiss and growl when they see her. How might I be able to smooth the introduction?

The best way to introduce your kittens to cats, would be to put the cat in another room and let the kitten play around and get used to his/her new environment for a few hours. Then in a big area,(living room, kitchen.) Make sure there is no cat food/water around, because cats are known to be protective of their food/water source, which could very easily start out on the wrong foot. A lot of cats are territorial and don't like other animals coming into their environment. So pretty much you just gotta let nature take it's course. At first both animals will be stressed, first the cat doesn't know what to expect and the kittens gonna be scared because it's a new environment, new people and new animals. So take it slow and watch them closely because I've known cats to attack kittens thinking the kitten was a mouse/rat or just a threat. After a week or so things will sink in, they'll get used to each others presence, and befor you know it they'll be playing together.

A way to introduce a kitten to adult cats is to hold the kitten with the two of them infront of you so they can smell it and get used to it's scent.

How are cats formed?

cats are formed by the two cats breeding to get a kitten.

Can adult cats eat kitten food?

Yes, of course. The nutritional needs of an adult cat and a kitten are the same, its just the amounts that should be fed to an adult or kitten that are different. For the most part, kitten and adult food from the same brand are the same, or at the very least, very similar in terms of ingredients and nutrients. The biggest difference between the two is usually texture. Kitten food is usually softer in texture or has smaller pieces. Dry adult food pieces may be too big for a small kitten, but wet food can easily be mashed up in order to be eaten more easily. Some premium cat food brands are suitable for both adults and kittens and do not offer a "kitten" range.

Should a girl kitten go with girl kitten?

Both of my cats are girls. They are sisters, though, but cats don't know if they're related to each other. So yes, it is perfectly okay to have two girl cats.

How do you get colored cats on petz cats clan?

It depens on what color you want. You can unlock differnent breeds of cats, so if you mix two colors you can sometimes get a NEW color. I once got a poor kitten with a Red head and a Green body at the beach! You can get a pink cat when you breed a Maine Coon and Abyssinian then breed that with an American Shorthair, but then if you breed that with another Abyssinian the kitten is pinkish then as an adult it is blue!

How long do kittens need kitten food?

Strictly speaking, healthy kittens do not "need" a specific kitten food. A kitten can eat adult cat food at any age, provided they are fully weaned. The nutritional needs of an adult cat and a kitten are the same; it is just the amounts that should be fed to an adult or kitten that are different. Kittens will often eat more than an adult cat, as they are still growing and developing, and need to be fed "little and often" due to their smaller stomachs. Adult cats need less food than kittens, and most are comfortable being fed twice a day. For the most part, kitten and adult food from the same brand are the same, or at the very least, very similar in terms of ingredients and nutrients. Feeding a kitten on adult food is absolutely fine. If you are unsure about the current kitten food you are feeding, compare the ingredients between the the kitten and adult versions and see what differences (if any) there are. The biggest difference between the two is usually texture. Kitten food is usually softer in texture or has smaller pieces. Dry adult food pieces may be too big for a small kitten, but wet food can easily be mashed up in order to be eaten more easily. Premium cat food brands are suitable for both adults and kittens and do not offer a "kitten" range.

What is plural for kitten?

Yes, the plural form for the singular noun cat is cats.If you are asking about 'collective' noun, you could use 'clowder', or 'glaring'. A clowder of cats, a glaring of cats. Plural and collective are related but different ideas. Plural refers to simple number. If I have not one cat but two cats, the simple plural is used. A group of cats would be a clowder or glaring.

Will an adult male cat get dominant if i get a female kitten?

Well, male cats are usually much less territorial than female cats. So the fact that your adult cat is a male gives you an advantage. However, it all depends on the cat. If the cat is normally dominant and aggressive, then he might behave that way towards the kitten. But most adult cats will not hurt a kitten, unless they are deranged or crazy or something. They can recognize that it's just a baby, and they won't hurt it, although they may hiss at it and swat at it. When I moved out of my parents' house I got two cats from the local shelter: an 8 year-old male and a 2 week-old female kitten. At first the adult cat just seemed mystified by the baby, like he didn't know what to make of her. But in a matter of days he became very fond of her, and as she grew up they became best friends. They still are, four years later.

Will the mother cat take a kitten back after it spent the night ithe house with two oher cats?

That is a good question. It may but first you need to remove the other cats scent from the kitten. Give it a short bath in kitten shampoo. After the kitten is dry, rub the kitten against the mama cat without the mama seeing the kitten. Doing this puts mamas scent back on the kitten and will make for a better meeting.

A kitten as a friend for your 18 month old male cat?
