∙ 12y agoSoundslike a magician's coin -- worth a couple of dollars.
The standard proof set and the Prestige set both are known to have this error coin in them. With retail values of $6,500.00 each
Issue price was $11.00, current value is $8.00
As of 12/2008, Numismedia quotes the fair market value (FMV) at $10.00 for a clad set and $28.00 for a silver "Prestige" set.
While some would say this is improper version of 1890, that assertion is based on Medieval rules for subtractive notation using Roman Numerals that were not established until after the fall of the Western Roman Empire. The standard version under modern rules would be MDCCCXC, but you will see exceptions in books and architectural inscriptions.
There is a mint error 1990 proof cent that was minted without the "S" mintmark. If you have one of these proof coins, it could easily be worth $5,000
It is worth face value.
One cent. Please check your pocket change. While all other denominations carry mint marks, the only circulating cents that bear a mint mark are from Denver. Those minted at Philadelphia (and occasionally at West Point) do not have mint marks. There is a rare proof version of a 1990 penny without a mintmark that was produced in San Fransisco which is worth anywhere from $1,000 to $2,000. Those come in a special set with a case and have a higher relief cameo with a thicker layer of copper coating.
Impossible to tell without actually seeing the coin.
It depends. Was it a shiny penny. A dull penny? Was it from 1890, 1990. How far away was the PENNY
The Burden of Proof was created in 1990.
