Grounding is accomplished by connecting a heavy cable from the ground side of the antenna to a ground rod. A ground rod is typically a 4 - 8 foot copper plated steel rod driven into the ground as close as possible to the antenna, making the wire connection as short as possible. All equipment should also be grounded to a rod, not just the antenna.
The antenna becomes a lightning rod. By connecting the post it is attached to, to the ground via the metal rod driven into the ground, lightning will not pass along the antenna wire to your TV but will pass harmlessly through the post only.
You get the Rod of Irvandis during the In Aid of the Myreque quest, it is used at the almost end part to finish the quest, and yes you do keep it when quest is complete.
A Dragon Rod costs 39800 gold, and can be bought from the Stornway weapon shop, after you finish the main quest.
Mostly because an antenna is usually the tallest part of a house, and made of metal, which attracts lightning. if lightning hits the antenna it will follow use the metal rod to reach the ground instead of going through the house. Also partly because an antenna works better if it's grounded.
If you lose a quest item like the taming rod, then all you need to do is abandon the quest and re-take it. You will receive a new one when you re-accept the quest.
> http://www.myfordfocus.com/how-to/antenna.htm < OR; If you're just looking to replace the antenna rod itself - It is just screwed into the base. I have a 02 wagon, and have taken it off a couple of times. You might have to tighten it a bit first to break the seal. then grap it good an unscrew it. It seems to stick, but comes off. Good luck
I just did this today. It took about 2hours. Take your front tire off and loosen about 5-9 bolts that hold the innter fender panel on. Then you can pull back and disconnect 2-3 bolts that hold the antenna in. My problem now is that I can't get the new rod to retrieve back into the antenna. Hope this helps. Mike
Lighting rod is metallic rod, the rod provides easy route for the transfer of electric charge to the ground.
When you find a new rod to replace the broken one, simply click on the broken one and the new one will replace it. (To get the fuel rod , see the related question.)
There will be some amount of continuity in a k30. There is a coil at the bottom of the antenna base, so the ohm reading will be high, but should still be there.
The average cost to replace a tie rod is approximately $200. You can save about $125 of labor by replacing the tie rod your self.

buy a replacement antenna. undo the nut on the wing that secures the antenna. now turn the stereo on. the antenna will rise. when it gets to the top position it will pull out with no problem. leave the stereo on at this point. insert the white plastic track of the new antenna until you feel it almost grip. now turn the stereo off. the motor will now pull in the white plastic strip. now do the nut up again and job is complete. for any further assistance please visit. www.pajerouk.co.UK
