The entire dash assembly has to be removed to gain access to the heater core. I would suggest purchasing a shop manual for that vehicle to help you thru the job.
The heater core is located under the dash board, all you have to do is disconect the heater hoses then unbolt the consol and slide it back far enought to be able to unbole the heater core and slide it out. The install is just reversed from removal. Joe
losen all the dash bolts/screws, pull the dash back about a foot, and pull open the heater box, slide out the old heater core, slide in the new one. put it all back together and fill it up with fluid.
Slide up under the engine and look at the bottom of it and that will be the oil pan that you are looking at.
it's the cable that connects your heating/cooling temp slide switch to the heater box inside the engine. If it's broken you will have no temp control.

Slide in under the truck behind the drivers door and look up in the frame rail and you will see it.
You will need to attach the wiring harness to the end of your 1984 Chevrolet Blazer ignition lock cylinder. Slide the cylinder into the cylinder slot. Secure the ignition lock cylinder with the retaining ring.

The whole dash has got to be completely removed to access. The heater core case is directly behind the center of the dash. After removing the dash out of the car, disconnect the two heater hoses on the engine side of the fire wall and the everything else is self-explanatory. Open up the case, slide the one out, slide a new one in and reassemble everything.
You will need to remove the retaining ring from the top of your 1989 Chevrolet blazer ignition switch. Slide the ignition switch out and remove the wiring harness. Reverse the process to install the new ignition switch.
