how to tell if the transmission is a 4160e. are there numbers on transmission or something to identify the transmission
Unbolt the transmission from enigine and remove support mounts.
A wide range of GM products, such as the Blazer, Yukon, Tahoe, Suburban, Astro, etc.
The 4L60E (NOTE SPELLING) trans is a very common front drive GM transmission and is in 80% of automatic front drive GM cars from 2002 The rest have 4L80E
NO. NOT EVEN CLOSE. Chevy redesigned the engines and transmissions in late 1999. If you need a transmission for the 96 truck Then the only 1 you can use is a 1996 4L60E transmission. If it wasn't a 1996 model then finding 1 would be NO problem.
If the 95 is a 1/2 ton, Then it must have the 4L60E transmission put in it. If the 95 is a 3/4 ton, Then it MUST have the 4L80E transmission put in it. 4-wheel and 2-wheel drive transmissions will NOT INTERCHANGE
As far as I can tell , the A4LD automatic transmission was used in the Ford Ranger from ( 1985 to 1994 model years ) *** transmission code " T " ***
You can't tell just by looking at the antennas.
The ONLY transmission that will work in that year is the 4L60E. Due to the computor system and transmission wiring harness. All the 1/2 ton trucks used the 4L60E transmission and the 3/4 tons used the 4L80E transmissions in them.
Check fluid level in transmission
Owner's manual will tell you. Dextron III if I remember right.
There's ONLY 2 that will work. If it is a 1/2 ton then it will be the 4L60E transmission. the 3/4 tons and heavier used the 4L80E in them.
Tell me the year, and I'll tell you what you got.
