He seems to have had a happy childhood and a good relationship with his family. But he had what today would be called learning disabilities. He was very slow to learn to speak, and at first, he also was not a very good student. His parents worried that there might be something wrong with him, but he gradually improved after receiving extra help. He was a very curious and inquisitive child who loved to explore and observe. He also enjoyed music and learned to play the violin. Fortunately, Einstein (who was Jewish) was growing up before his native country (Germany) descended into Naziism, so his childhood was not very dangerous or frightening. But years later, when he was an adult and a famous professor, he had to leave his country and come to America for his own safety.
