If the colonists had not stood up for what they beleived was their fundamental right to abolish taxation without representation, and had the libertarians and extreme democratic leaders did not stand in the face of Imperial Britannia and the sovereign king by, for example, dumping taxed tea into the water, America would have simply become another British colony. The thirteen colonies would most likely have been turned into one of many satellite british colonies, and the rest of the land would be relatively open. After all, it was after the revolution that many of our presidents and leaders strongly encouraged traveling east to explore the land. If they had not, the French, Spanish, and Native Americans would still have their settlements, and who knows what would have transpired. The point is this: the colonies were okay with Britain and in line with the king. But when they felt that not only were they being treated unfairly and taxed more than any other british colony, but also that they were not even supported or represented in the British parliament, they decided the Brits really did not care about them or their situation and decided to do something about it. If they had not, they would have been mistreted till every cent was drained from those colonies, and then it would have been on to the next. The brits refused to permit any colony representation in the government, let alone hear their pleas from 3,000 miles away. How would you feel if you were off making a living and happy as a hotel owner on a private island catering to celebrities, raking in the millions and helping the indigenous people in the area, only to find that some conceited stranger across the pond wants not just a piece, but a HUGE HANDFUL of what you worked hard to earn? I think it was this instinctive "fighting for your keep" that sparked the revolution, and without it America would not exist. In the end it became "fighting for what is right", but it's not how it started.

America might still be a part of Britain. We would have a king or queen & parliament, rather than a president & the 3 branches of gov. For example, no more George Washington as our 1st president. Slavery would have been banned much earlier, as it was in Britain in 1807.

well i think if the American revelution didn't occur in 1776 it would have started a few years later as the colonists were moving nore and more to the west an England having Canada to worry about would have had too big an area tocontrol. remember we were noy like some of England's possessions we came to America to escape English persecution. so it would have happened anyway so why not 1776. If we decided to remain under britons control our lives would be just like Canada's except that we wouldn't syart our football season in July

American Revolutionary war changed not only the face of America but the entire world. USA emerged rapidly as a global military and economic power after the revolutionary war. In case it had not taken place world would have been a much different place. The continent would have been under British control and the global politics would still be centered around Europe.

We would have remained a British colony. We would probably have the same kind of relationship with the United Kingdom that Canada has.
