You can go to your local dmv and get a duplicate.
No, you can't go to your local DMV and get a duplicate. You'll normally have to fill out a form requesting a duplicate title with a reason for the request, have the original lien holder fill out part of the form stating that you no longer owe any money on the vehicle and then pay a fee and send the form to your state's DMV. It takes about 2-4 weeks to get it back and trust me, it is a pain in the butt.
From personal experience irregardless proper procedure or law. I have sold and purchased many vehicles without Title. Using only a Bill of Sale. And have never had any difficulty as of yet.
I bought a car and I cant get the title for it what to do
You cant sell the vehicle without titling it in your name first unless you are selling it to a salvage yard or for scrap metal. The person buying it wont be able to get a title for it if you dont title it first.
The penalty for selling a car without a title varies from state to state. The main problem with buying a car without a title is that you have to have a title in order to register the car.
These type of transaction is illegal since there was no car title that has to be presented in selling that car.
Yes, you do. which section on the back of title do i sign for selling vechile
My husband died in Nov. and I cant find the title to the car, that has both our names on it, how can I get the car in just my name in case I ever need to sell it, I need the title for the car insurance company too, thanks
You should have never bought a car without receiving the title. But, you did so go to your local DMV and explain this and request a duplicate title. That is all you can do.
You need a title.
You cannot "sell" a car without the title because the title is proof of ownership. Without the title the buyer can't register and insure the car.
