Answer EASY TO DOI would guess that it depends on what kind of car or truck you have, but on my 90 4 Runner it was easy. I have little to no knowledge about this before I started. My cable is made in 2 sections. I tracked the cable from the rear wheels to were they joined. About the middle of truck. Then on to the fire wall hole where it enters the cab. That was the hardest part. A simple clip holds the cable ends in place. Just pull the clip and that end of the cable will come loose. I also had a pully wheel that guides that cable to the brake handle that needed to be removed. It was held in by a cotter pin. Another clip on the other end (under the truck) of the cable released the cable as well as another cotter pin to pull out. Resecure all the clips as it runs the length of the truck (2 or 3 in my case) when you get the new cable ran and that about does it. Just a note about my brake handle. It is the kind that is on a bar that you pull toward your hip. When my cable broke the 12 inch bar came all the way out of dash. I had to remove lower dash and hold two little spring loaded teeth up while I reinserted the bar into the hole.THIS WAS TO EASY TO PAY SOMEONE TO DO!!!

How do you release the parking brake when the release cable has broken on a 2004 silverado truck with less than 24K?

I don't know about Silverado trucks but all of the emergency (parking) brakes I'm familiar with use the brake cable to "pull" and hold the brake against the drum (or disk), so if the cable breaks you simply cannot apply the emergency brake. That is, it is automatically released if the the cable breaks.

How do you release an engaged emergency brake on a 1991 Ford Taurus that has no handle at all?

Try to grab the release mechanism , where the handle was, with a vice grip or pliers. Push down slightly on the emergency brake pedal to relieve pressure on the locking mechanism. You should be able to pull the release out.

2000 Chevy silverado front emergency brake cable replacement?

The cable runs from the release under the dash to the adjustment bracket under the Silverado. Remove the nut at the adjustment bracket and disconnect the cable. Pull the cable at the dash end for some slack, and disconnect from the dash release. The cable can now be pulled out and replaced.
