I imagine that your '96 is the same as mine, and that the cruise control ON/OFF and SET switches are on the end of the turn signal/headlight switch. On or the other of those switches may be bad, or the connection to the switches has come loose. In either case, you will need to remove the shroud around the steering column to gain access to the headlight/turn signal/cruise switch. If you end up replacing it, it comes out with only one screw, but take note of how the wiring harnesses are routed and be sure to re-route them the same wayor you'll have a heck of a time getting the switch seated properly when you put the new one in.
Um, are you trying to install cruise on a car that didn't come from the factory with it? Or are you trying to replace/repair an existent system?FriPilot
If memory serves, there isn't one. All that switching is done at the turn signal/low highbeam/cruise control stalk.
It is part of the cruise control.
I did a Google search for NHTSA , got on their website and checked for recalls , there were 2 recalls for the 2001 F-150 but not for the cruise control
You've got to disable the airbag and remove it, then pull the steering wheel, .... go to www.autozone .com for more detailed instructions. hope that helps. Ron
there is a problem with your cruise contol, have it checked. also have cam positioning sensor checked
Read the manual, but I believe it says when the cruise light blinks there is an error with the cruise control and should be checked. I have had mine blink before and then the next time I used it, it was fine.
You need to have it checked for trouble codes. You can then diagnose the cause.
If the car is going up an incline, it will attempt to keep the speed constant with the setting of the cruise control. When that process is satisfied, the car may decelerate a bit to keep the same speed. If the car continually decelerates whe using the cruise control. stop using the cruise and have it checked. It id very dangerous to use the cruise control that is not operating properly. It could cause the car to accelerate unexpectedly.
Because whatever has caused the light to come on also effects the cruise from working properly. Have the system checked for codes.
You have an broken wire in the clock spring.
Cruise module is a servo electric unit It is a rectangle shaped alloy box bolted to a bracket on the passenger side stru tower or fender area The cruise control module has a black plastic top cover The cable goes from it to throttle assembly on engine Also a wire harness connects to it MAKE sure to match the GM letter code if you are changing it out with another one EXAMPLE match the AW if the original one has AW on it GZ if it says GZ Interchangeable with same letter code from Pontiac Sunfire as well
