I have a 2001 Mazda Tribute. Why would my engine coolant light stay on and the fluid is not low It goes off then it will come back on. Any suggestions?

It can be the sensor or have the cap checked out.
The caps in these go bad. You can replace the cap/container (sold as one unit), or try putting in approximately 1 qt of coolant above the full line (sometimes this works).
the floating ball sinks and the sensor goes on to make the light come on there ios a recall for this bring it to your Mazda dealer
