i have a 1999 durango with the same problem i have had numurous problems with this truck
I had similar with my 2000. The air bag light was on, and the cruise / stereo did not function. You need to replace what is commonly called the clock spring. You will need to remove air bag and steering wheel. Not too difficult a job.
The clock spring doesn't control anything. It is used to connect the switches located in the steering wheel to the wire harness inside the steering column.
There is a lights control box under your steering wheel.
speed control switch (on steering wheel) not functioning. There is a procedure on internet to test existing with an ohmmeter or if someone working in steering wheel area maybe harness unplugged by accident-believe only effects cruise control
take the CD player out
With great difficulty!
The answer that I have gotten is that there is a problem with the connection in your steering wheel that connects all of the switches on your steering wheel to the rest of the car. I forget what it is called, but everything on your steering wheel runs through this connection. Since your radio has switches for volume, stations, inputs, etc. on your steering wheel and of course your turn signals are there as well, all of that could be related to that one connection going bad. The most useless fix that I have heard for this is to bang on your steering column and that could shake it into order... but of course what you should do is have that connection replaced. $$$ Good luck. It's called a clockspring on cars with airbags.
Light blue/red. Pin #18 located six pins over from the right on the bottom row of the wiring harness (the clip on the harness would be the top).
The heater control valve is located under the hood on top of the passenger inner fender near the firewall. It has a wiring harness going to the rear of the valve and has also two coolant hoses attached.
The factory wiring harness for the trailers will plug in under the back of the vehicle in the area of the spare tire, the harness plugs into the wiring harness for the tail lights.
Power steering power steering pressure switch is a part of power steering pump. There is wire harness connect to the pump, it's connect the switch. Find the harness you will find the switch.
More tahn likely the clockspring needs replaced.
Three connecters, 32 pins a piece.
