Look for wires stuck between motor and trans, look on top of trans
The starter solenoid on a 1995 Toyota 4Runner will be found on the starter unit itself. The solenoid is mounted on top of the starter.

The starter on a 1998 Toyota 4runner is held located on the transmission housing. The starter is held on by 2 bolts which mount it directly it the engine. Remove the two bolts to replace the starter.
Well it just cost me $375 to have a starter replaced in a 1990 4Runner. But I think I got totally screwed.

The 1997 Toyota starter can be found on the right hand side of the engine. The starter will be near the back of the engine, at the bottom.

if your starter is clicking when u turn it over- that's a good sign.
The starter for your 1992 is located behind your passenger side wheel well. Remove tire and you will see a panel at the top of the wheel well remove it and the starter is behind that.
