There is:

A: There is a loose connection between the cables and the battery. Which means you would most likely have to clean/replace the battery cable clamps.

B:Ignition Relay switch is damaged, which can be replaced.

C: There may be the incorrect battery for your vehicle, that there is not enough power (CCA: Cold Cranking Amps) to fully start your vehicle.

Any of these choices could be your problem, When you turn and hold down the ignition switch to start the engine, there's not enough power to both light the dashboard and instrument cluster and start the vehicle at the same time, therefore making the relay ignition switch "arc" some electricity through the switch, thus creating the clicking sound.

How do you get to the battery in a citroen xsara Picasso without removing the passenger seat?

The passenger seat tilts forward. Either push it fully back or fully forward (can't remember which one) and there is a little lock, like you have on the rear seats, push that down and lift the seat giving you plenty of room to work on the battery.

ON MY 93 CHEVY LUMINA When the key is turned in the ignition there is a clicking sound but the lights and radio still work any idea of what this is?

Most likely the battery is weak and dying. Enough voltage and current to make the solenoid barely engage (clicking in and out), but plenty of current and voltage for the radio and some of the lights.

1989 Acura Legend clicking sound at starter motor?

A single click usually means a bad starter (unless the engine is stuck and can't turn over.) Rapid clicking almost a buzz would indicate dead or discharged battery or poor electrical connection from battery to starter. To be a little more sure, use a voltmeter to measure voltage while trying to crank. Below 9.5V indicates not enough electrical power available - battery issue. Higher voltage then 10.6V indicates plenty of juice, but the starter isn't working.

Why is a car battery so big?

Because it has to turn over a large engine. This takes plenty of cranking amps. To create that much amps takes a large battery with plenty of storage space for the current needed.

Your 98 ford e150 van wont start you can hear a clicking sound next to the battery and there is plenty of juice and the cables are fine.?

It could be two things wrong, the first thing to check would be your starter and the other would be your solenoid. take a hammer and tap on your starter, (sometimes that helps)

Why can you change a car battery but not a torch battery?

You can "change" a torch battery. If you mean "charge", there are plenty of types of torch battery that can be charged. The common carbon-zinc battery, commonly used in torches in the past, is one of the few types left on the market that can't be charged.
