If Im having tourque converter lock up on my 1989 corica easest repair and why is this happening please help?

Bad news then Really bad news followed by maybe better news.:
The Transmission must be removed from the car to replace the torque Converter.
If the converter has failed inside it has probably damage the entire transmission and it will also require repair.
The only bright spot is that all the controls to work this component are realitivly cheap and easy to fix, so what's wrong may not cost an arm and a leg.
