It could be the battery. If not try tapping the starter with a hammer. Not hard enough to crack the housing but hard enough that it might unstick the starter from the flywheel. If this works you might want to change the starter. If not it would have to be the solenoid.
If its a 94-96 Model it`s under the seat !
your battery is dead or the starter solenoid
it's easy to check the solenoid, put a screw driver across the large nut & the smaller one, and if the starter engages it's the solenoid .make sure the vehicle is in park, or the e- brake is on. ( with key on)
The solenoid is on the starter.
The solenoid is part of the starter.
Short the two battery leads together, this will bypass the solenoid and should turn the starter. But this does not answer the question....it just lets you see if the starter works. How do you CHECK the solenoid to see if it is GOOD or BAD???
If its a 94-96 Model it`s under the seat !
Under the seat of the bike just under the fuse box.
your battery is dead or the starter solenoid
Put a stethoscope or a plastic tube onto the solenoid, listen at it while a friend turns the starter. If solenoid clicks it is good. -Problem then is low battery or dud starter.
You can turn the key to the "run" position, and jump across the solenoid with a screwdriver or something metal. If the starter turns, you have a bad solenoid.
The starter solenoid is on the starter. The starter solenoid is on the starter.
Starter solenoid sticking. Replace the solenoid if it is external. If it is internal, then just replace thee starter. It will cost a little more but you will have a new starter and solenoid.
The starter relay or solenoid is probably the problem.
You need to replace the starter solenoid .
Bad starter, bad starter solenoid, or the problem might not be the starter at all.
