Have you replaced the distributor cap? I have a 94 Maxima that would not start due to a cracked distributor cap. (Check for sparks under the hood when it's dark.)
it could be your mass air flow sensor
A bad crankshaft sensor would stop the engine and not restart.
It could be a faulty wire or connection. It could also be a faulty sensor or display unit.
It could be a number of things. O2 sensor, throttle position sensor, bad fuel pump, very clogged injectors. Remove the intake hose, stick your hand over the hole before the O2 sensor and see it it runs better, if yes, then your catalytic converter is clogged, that was my problem
Could be timing belt tensioner.
One can purchase a Nissan Maxima from most Nissan dealerships or alternatively one could search for this car on sites like 'AutoTrader', 'Edmunds' or 'Yahoo! Autos'.
Noise from floor on 96 Nissan Maxima could be as a result of poor shifting. This often occurs when you use the wrong gear oil.
check your vacuum hoses, they could be loose or they could have a leak
Possibly. But it could also be the sparkplug and any associated wiring for that item.
Dextron II or Dextron III are the recommended power steering fluids for a 1997 Nissan Maxima. Using a different brand could affect the seals and the bearings on the car.
If a 1997 Nissan Maxima will crank but will not start, there could be a problem with the fuel pump. Another possibility is an issue with the ignition switch.
Could need a tune up or could be something in the fuel injection such as a bad injector.
